I too have found that if a person is going to have only one primary lathe the 13 x 40 or 14 x 40 gear head is tough to beat. Now that Shars is starting to sell some more upscale tooling and end mills, they will likely get my money and ebay. High gear the noise level goes up a small bit but since I'm as deaf as a post I won't notice. I ran it and it really smooth. There was a time when MSC was a half decent company. IIRC, the Enco Asian products back then came from Taiwan which were pretty decent quality. I like the fact that Grizzly has the exploded diagrams and parts lists online, so you can make sure you're getting what you're looking for. Original owner. I can't bring it home until next Saturday.
